Furniture Consignment FAQs
Q: What do you accept on consignment?
We specialize in high quality furniture, militaria, sterling silver, artwork, jewelry, lamps, and vintage accessories. We cannot accept all pieces but are happy to offer free in person and virtual consultations to discuss consignment options.
Q: How long is the consignment period?
Items are consigned for a 4 month period. After 30 days, prices on any unsold items will be reduced by 15%. After 60 days, the price will be reduced by an additional and final 15%. The customer receives 50% of the selling price on all items. Checks will be mailed to the consignor by the fifteenth of the month for
items sold during the previous month. Electronic payment methods are also available.
Q: My items have a little wear and tear. Can you help me make them look better before
they are listed?
Before marketing your items, we spend time in the Restoration Workshop doing an initial cleaning to make sure it looks its best. Additional restoration quotes can be requested but are separately billed from the consignment fees.
Q: Can COL Porter just buy my item?
It is possible that we will buy your item.
COL Porter prides himself on fair treatment and honest advice. You have a friend in the business!
Q: My item is too big to bring to transport. How can I get an
idea if it is consignable?
In today’s modern age, we can facetime you to give an initial consultation. Reach out to schedule a mutually acceptable appointment. You may also email us pictures (take a lot of different angles).
